For parents, we should always be looking for ways to help our children through the transitions of life: from infants to toddlers to school age to middle school, puberty, high school, college, and through challenges, disappointments, victories, etc. As they change and face life, we’ll need to renew and reshape our parenting.
If we stay intentional, forward-thinking, focused, disciplining, listening and team-oriented, we’ll make progress.
At the end of 1 Tim 4, after Paul gives Timothy instruction on his role as a preacher of the gospel, like a parent, he tells him:
1 Tim 4:1615 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
Ask: what would I consider progress in my parenting during the current phase in my children’s lives?
Practical: Spend some time in prayer considering your spiritual parenting habits and how you can make progress in helping your children to grow and mature spiritually.
