Haverim 2022: The Torah Reading Plan and Resources

See updated information here.

In the Hampton Roads Church, many haverim groups formed in 2021 to read, talk, and pray through the New Testament with our ResilieNT Reading Plan. We’re nearing the end of the year, so what’s next?

Plan: Reading the Torah

My morning men’s haverim group plans to go back to the Old Testament in 2022. We’ll be reading through the Torah, the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The Torah tells the story of God’s creation, His relationship with man, and His plan to call out a special people for His own. The concepts in the Torah also form the key to understanding many of the teachings of the prophets in the Old Testament, and those of Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament. The Torah is foundational, so we’re going back to foundations for our haverim discussions in 2022

Resources: Reading Plan and Other Resources

Our haverim group used various commentaries, books, podcasts and other resources for our sessions on the ResileNT reading plan. This year we have an additional resource that fits well into our Torah reading plan.

In mid-December, the Bible Project announced the release of the Bible Project App, which will include a study of the Torah. Our group will use the Bible Project app lessons on the Torah as supplemental reading material for our sessions.

I’ll be publishing a reading plan schedule as Bible Project lessons are released so that we can stay in synch. See the button below for a downloadable pdf of the schedule, which I’ll update as needed through 2022. I’ll also add notes on other resources that we use during the year.

If you’d like to join a group or are leading one in 2022, please see the link on the Hampton Roads Church website (on this page) . If you want to learn more about the haverim approach we’re using, see the posts here.
